Latrenia Bryant Photography bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

I'm Latrenia Bryant | photographer. I love style, fashion, natural hair and photography therefore I shall call myself a style photographer. Sometimes I like channeling my inner hippie/retro side. I love the 70's! I like NOT looking like everyone else.

This isn't a blog showcasing TECHNICALLY PERFECT photographs. What you see here are images that I LIKE, they look good to ME. I am aware of the photographic rules but I'm choosing to just do what I like.

This is where you will see my most recent work as well as what's happening in my life. Simply put I'm just a simple girl who's excited about all things photo.

If you guys like what you see don't hesitate to hit the LIKE button or leave a comment (we photographers thrive on feedback) Oh and don't forget to bookmark or rss this blog :)

    Peace and Love!

DaMANShirt

Wow!! It’s been waaaaay to long since my last post. I guess I took a hiatus of sorts to be with my husband who returned from overseas but I think I’m back now:)

This post came about because my husband was doing some spring cleaning and wanted to throw away perfectly good shirts…and belts. I thought to myself, “that’s crazy! there isn’t anything wrong with these shirts.” For kicks I decided to do a post showing you can basically make anything work regardless of the original intent. I used his long sleeve collared shirts in various ways. The objective here is to not take your fashion/style too serious; have fun with it!

This 1st look was paired with jeans, tucked and bow tied..

The 2nd look was paired with dress slacks, sweater and a belt..

The 3rd look was worn as a skirt w/a simple top and belt..

My last and 4th look was worn as a micro-mini dress, paired with a mini skirt, fun necklace and cool polka dot shoes! MY FAV LOOK:D

So there you have it ladies! Next time your man tries to throw away his long sleeve collared shirts STOP HIM! YOU just might look better in them than he did..LOL…:)
OK, I hope not to let too much time pass before I post again. It was fun! If you do try this post a pic on my FB page! love to see how you rock your man’s shirt! Byeeeeeeeee

Rewind..My Bridal Dress

17 years ago I stood next to the person I vowed to spend the rest of my life with. There I stood in my off-the-shoulder, V-neckline, princess ball gown topped with a pearled tiara veil and long white gloves. As beautiful as it may sound unfortunately still to this day I have only 1 regret….. That I did not stand my ground to pick my own photographer. IF I could have I would have photographed my own wedding. 17 years later I’m still so dissatisfied with our wedding photos.

The photographer (a member from my husband’s side of the family) was suppose to have been a professional photographer who did this for a living. I was hesitant but still went along with it. The phrase, “you get what you pay for”  is so true. Granted, it was the era of film photography but even with that, I was capturing better images with my Kodak box camera and my $99 point/shoot than this photographer did with his PROFESSIONAL equipment. Basically, I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a good photographer at your wedding. Could I scan my images and edit them to my liking? Sure. Will I? NOPE because not only was the quality below standard he didn’t encourage movement/poses/locations or anything!! He just stood there and pressed the shutter so needless-to-say the images are pretty boring. See below..

Normally I would not have chosen this type of veil but because I had made the decision to go natural months prior to getting married I wanted a veil that would take the focus off my hair. That day I slapped some styling gel on my hair, brushed it down, pulled it back into a ponytail and topped it with this tiara veil that covered much of my head. I was OK with doing this because I knew the day would come when my hair would be my glory.

Because I have been so dissatisfied with not having at least one proper image of me in my wedding gown I decided I would bring my gown back out for one last appearance and this time I WOULD BE THE PHOTOGRAPHER!!

At last…. I finally get to put my dress back on. Below is the actually veil minus the tiara part I pulled off and added the flower and those are the original gloves……I went crazy with the chunky non-traditional, non-formal jewelry and there you have it…TAH-DAH!!!

And for fun….

So there you have it! I’m finally OK with having atleast 1 image of me looking pretty nice in my wedding dress.  I guess it’s a female thing..lol..I don’t think my husband would care one way or the other…he’s not into picture taking like I am LOL

Peace y’all!

TeeTransformation

Today’s OOTD (Outfit of The Day) came from an oldie but goodie straight from of my dresser drawer and on to my sewing machine. It was a very simple sew project I did for fun. I turned my Black Panther Party tee purchased from Artistic Tees http://www.artistictee.com/ into a 2-in-1 item. Here’s how the tee originally looked before I transformed it ..

The pics below shows the tee as a tube top… Summer is coming..could be a good idea to rummage through your closets to turn that old tee into something new and improved..best thing about that is..it’s easy on the budget!:)

Next, The tee is worn as a pencil skirt ….my version of a hip urban shabby chic look:)

So there you have it..before you run out to buy something new..check to see if there’s something in your closet that can be transformed…pair it with a few fun accessories and you’re ready to go!..
Shoes? OLD

Necklace? Flea Market

Earrings? Flea Market

Hobo bag? State Fair 2011

Shorts/Belt? Target

Hair? and Stylist?  Yours truly .. and yes, I’m aware of the thick new growth that’s visibly noticeable in regards to my locs ..LOL.. I’m semi-free forming at the moment.

Thanks guys.. Peace!

SnakeSkin to the Max

Nothing against the other animal prints but It’s been said that the snakeskin prints are for the mature woman..not sure why but maybe it has something to do with the snake-charmer effect.  Snake charming is the practice of pretending to hypnotise a snake by playing an instrument..Mmmm well handling a snake can be a dangerous act and if she’s truly a mature woman…it doesn’t matter what instrument you THINK you’re playing…be aware and know you’re not fooling her..she’s just waiting for the right moment to strike:)

Anywho..lol.. on to my OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) This exotic strapless braided belted snakeskin maxi print dress will surely bring on a double take to your silhouette. Paired with a comfy flip-flop shoe, a large snake/leather handbag and cute accessories. Now you’re hissing with style and ready to make the streets your runway.

Besides.. who doesn’t look great in a maxi? and you can find snakeskin print in so many colors, you’re bound to find something you gotta have  :)

So there you have it..my OOTD! Thanks for stopping by!!

No Bell Bottoms

“No Bell Bottoms! and do something with your hair” is what my husband tells me …..lol..oh! and he reminds me that I’m 40 not 60 and I shouldn’t always be covered up..can you believe that!! just like a man:)

I love all things 60′s/70′s and my husband hates it. He sends a special request from across the globe for me to post something that looks like I belong in this millenium. Something that didn’t make me look as if I was sister to Lenny Kravitz or something out of Little House on the Prairie (mind you those are two of my favorite things:)) anywho… I of course laughed because he knows bohemian/hippie and gypsies looks are some of my favorite styles of all time. I know he likes more modern looks and so do I…depending on my mood. Never the less, I gave my boho dresses/skirts a rest because my husband deserves a treat LOL

My husband isn’t a bad guy y’all … really! He says it all in fun. So babe, this blog is dedicated to YOU!! Mr. Modern lol and Ladies just a word to the wise.. The LBD (little black dress) can be worn in the daytime as well. Having lunch at a more elegant restaurant?  If worn in the day instead of those dazzling/sparkling heels, dress it down with a fun more everyday shoe and leave much of the accessories behind. Only a simple purse, earrings (maybe something in the hair) and little to no makeup is all you’ll need to rock your LBD in the daylight hours  :)

To my husband, I’m not sure if you’ll think this next look is modern enough for you because I slipped the sweater vest on you.. LOL..but at least it’s not BELL BOTTOMS/Patchwork denim right?:)

I think a lot of men have problems shopping for their wife/girlfriend. I have to say, my husband does not have that problem. He buys about 90% of my hand bags including the blue Jimmy Choo purse seen above and sometimes picks out some of my clothes but then again he says that’s easy ..just look for something that looks like it belongs in the 70′s and that’s what I’ll wear lol …either-way, he has good taste!

So babe I’ll try to post a few “up-to-date” looks until you get home (he’s not in jail y’all ..lol..he’s military) but then after that it’s back to BOHO!!!! Hey, it’s me.. what can I say:)

Peace Y’all especially to you my husband DAMON:)
