It’s been some time since I last colored my hair. I don’t color my locs often. I may color them once a year for a couple of reasons 1. I’m a very thrifty person (LOL) and 2. I’m NOT a professional colorist and with that being said I could easily damage my hair with the chemicals from some of the dyes. Knock on wood, I haven’t had a bad experience yet with doing my own color and I really don’t want to but then again..who does? Needless to say, this day I wanted to color my hair but I really wasn’t up for the task of going through the dyeing process so I took to my kitchen cabinets and settled for a old school way of dying hair. I pulled out the kool-aid packs! Yep!! That’s riiiight.. It’s a very simple and easy process to add color to your hair and at .20 cents a pack …that’s what I’m talking about
I used 3 packets of cherry as well as 3 packets of tropical punch. I boiled the kool-aid for a few minutes and let it cool down just a little. I parted my hair in 2 sections and dipped one side into the kool-aid for 15 minutes, reheated the kool-aid and dipped the other side for another 15 minutes. After my hair soaked in the kool-aid I immediately re-twisted the roots….. The results are below.
I must say, I get better results from using kool-aid than I ever did with the professional dyes. Do-it-Yourself HOME salon treatments aren’t for everyone so I recommend if you are looking for PROFESSIONAL results seek out a professional colorist. If you don’t trust your abilities, seek out a PROFESSIONAL…I have nooooooo problem experimenting on myself. Don’t do what I do…LOL…although kool-aid is pretty harmless still go to the PROS..they’re the ones with the license
Thanks for stopping by!
